The second day we made a short drive to walk up the Brocken: the highest mountain of the area, previously GDR territory, but nowadays a popular destination for walks. We started at teh offical beginning of the Brocken Trail, crossing the Brocken Fenn and lower woodland, and finally spiralling up to the summit flloowing the narrow gauge railway.
