Maintenance after holiday
We’ve been on holiday for two weeks and because there hasn’t been a power failure, all went well without the normal supervision. I returned in time to do the usual maintenance on June 1st: cleaning up, after checking mail statistics:
PMAS statistics for May
Total messages    : 5707 = 100.0 o/o
DNS Blacklisted   : 1786 =  31.2 o/o (Files: 31)
Relay attempts    : 2829 =  49.5 o/o (Files: 31)
Processed by PMAS : 1092 =  19.1 o/o (Files: 31)
       Discarded :  180 =  16.4 o/o (processed),   3.1 o/o (all)
    Quarantained :  330 =  30.2 o/o (processed),   5.7 o/o (all)
       Delivered :  582 =  53.2 o/o (processed),  10.1 o/o (all)

Most important feature this month is the number of relay attempts: about half of the message have been of this type. Especially on May 7th: far over 1900 attempts, from address 222.247.122.206 (hpx.wang@hpxcn.com). Second – on a distance – has been May 22nd: 294 from one address but different “users”: 113.240.67.205 (andly88888@163.com, maticli@sohu.com, goeu@sina.com, 2006peixunbu@21cn.com, and third was may 1st, 172 from 59.39.161.140 (qifan001@126.com)

Wouldn’t be surprised if ALL were Chinese….

Of course, the logfiles have been scanned and archived, but here there seemed nothing particularly remarkable. Just the usual attempts….

The scan procedure for the webserver logs has been slightly adapted because there are more valid locations where access does’t have to be noted.

Content management
The holiday “log” is being prepared – I took almost 800 pictures and a lot of them need to be combined. I use the Windows version of Hugin for that purpose, and ran into an error in one occasion. It should be mentioned on the Hugin Tracker site, requiring me to login in SourceForge (where I do have an account) but I didn’t succeed yet. Well, do other images first….
That’s one reason I did’t publish this ‘in time’ 🙂

Clean-up procedure created
This work has normally been done by hand, but it’s easy to automate – and so I created a procedure to do this work. It will, for now, just archive the files, not delete them yet, until it’s certain it works properly.
