FTP logs
As mentioned a few days ago, it was found FTP logs seemed missing, but tonight I found they have been copied all the time, but because I copies them using BACKUP/INTERCHANGE/OVERWRITE, they kept their version numbers – and there was a version with a higher version number – dating back over a year ago. A residue of the old configuration…
This old file has been archived, and now the most recent one – created on last reboot – is up front. Found a few attempts, I’m wondering why they don’t show up in Operator.log anymore.
Another mail bomber?
Yesterdays’ operator.log is almost 180.000 blocks in size – well over 10 times the ususal. Cause is one address trying to post – a huge amount of attemps, starting at about 9:15, and continuing to send a mesage once a minute until 22:30, and all failed due to the fact that the address could not be backtranslated to a domain.
Cleanup
A month has passed so I archived februari’s logfiles – for a chance on the right date, making the task fairly easy. But that is the reason I have no detailed data from these messages. Just the time, rwason of refusal. And the adddress, so I can dig who’s responsible for stealing CPU and bandwith 🙂
