About the title

Hoff would like to know why the adjacent “in the attic”.

Well, just because there that’s where the servers are, since I don’t have a basement (earning a rather moderate income – after taxes – such a dwelling is out of reach. Living doesn’t come cheap over here). It’s directly under a West-facing roof, that holds just one, roof-fitted window and no more, so there is hardly any airflow in the room.
“Kinda hot” in summer – that’s true, and I do worry when off location for a longer period. I guess the memory problems I had some years ago are related to high temperatures. But usually, the boxes can deal with it. I drilled a hole in the roof to let the heat out so it does not accumulate around the hardware, but the draw is not as high as I would like. if any would exist.

Did I hear someone to sponsor an airco unit (and required power) ? 🙂

On the other hand: the machinery compensates for the missing heating in the room. But it never gets too cold for the boxes.

I would like to move the whole stuff one level down, there are two rooms that can be used. Both offer a window and airflow – and the windowes can be kept opened even in bad weather. But there are drawbacks. One has less than half the floor-and wallspace to store everything in a usefull way, but cabling would be easy. The other one has about the same space that I use now, but cabling would become problematic.
If cooling would be needed, the small one is more handy because it has an outside wall that could hold the outside part of an airco unit. For the big one, drastic measures would be needed.

The blocking factor: both rooms are taken untill one or both kids would leave to live on their own…
