| The Island of Flowers - in a cold, somewhat wet and windy spring of 2018. Trip to Madeira, booked with company that is specialzed in walking. We stayed at three places: near the North coast at Boaventura, Southwest at Estreida de Calheta, and finally on the East side, a bit moe inland, at San Antonio da Serra. We stayed in small hotels. The trip included a car and some proposals for walks, we used most of them but made out own plans for others. Apart from these walks, we visited the botanic garden in the capital Funchal, the only remaining rum factory at Calheta, and paid visits to Ribeira Brava (on the South coast) and Machico (on the East coast). |
