Willibrordpad

Putten to Baarn: Longest stage (29 km), in large part following the dykes of Veluwe- and Eemmeer.

From the railway station in Putten over country roads to the dyke of Veluwemeer; there is a cycleroute on the dyke itself. We followed that track; Veluwemeer passes into Eemmeer a few kilometers before Bunschoten-Spakenburg: two former fishing harbours (Bunschoten still has a shipyard where the remaining boats ('Botter") are maintained). Following the dyke, took a detour (scheduled by route) to Eemdijk. Here, we did something different: where the routhe follows the Eem river (on dyke or road) we took the ferry crossing the Eem and walked over rural roads to a parking lot west of Baarn.

Walked 1-Feb-2014; Image time is two hours ahead of GPS.
