We anticipated to walk to the Charbieres peaks, cross a pass in the ridge and walk back along the plain. We climbed the pass, found our way at the bottom of the peaks, but once back on track, found our way blocked by large patches of snow that could not be passed without danger of sliing doen several hunders meters, so we went back and took the easy route back.

3438ET * The route we anticipated would go along Le Mais L'quipage, just down the peaks of Les Charbieres; It meant crossing the ridge at some point. Starting from the Ski Resort, we first foloowed the path through the woods, then over the ridge to the end of the lift - theer would be a viewpoint over the valley. From there, following a path traversing the slope and crossing the ridge, follwoing the nothern slopes just below the peaks. Rounding this area we would get back to the resort. This route was marked with a blue dot - easy to follow, once you found them.
Alas, a snow field on the slope, starting just below the steep wall, and heading down hunderds of meters at a 45 degree angle could not safely be passed without special gear so we had to go back, and follow the orange marker instead. * 2052 x 1357 * (958KB)
