Track * Starting from another location than we ended before this walk went from Mittelheim, to Kiedrich, where the route in the booklet would go back to the river - but we kept to the route and headed to Rauhentahl. Getting there proved a bit troublesome since the directions in Kiedrich were not very clear. Finally we found where to go, starting with a short track uphill - meaning stairs and steep, uphill paths - but fairly even one on top. Our bikes were parked in Rauhenthal, end on our way back, downhill, the doggy cart tipped a ramp and turned on it's side - no harm to the dog, physically. However, she refused to sit down on the rest of the (rather quiet) ride back. * 1384 x 1154 * (138KB)

Google-0904 * Again, this walk followed the boundary of woods and vineyards, on the higher slopes on the Rheingauer Berge, far away from the river. The Rhine gets rather wide here, as well as the landscape. * 1100 x 767 * (276KB)

05-Views * Following the edges of the forest; on the right, there are vineyards and acres of wheat and rye, all down to the river. * 1488 x 1984 * (522KB)

06-RheinCities * Looking back, westward over the valley, you see the cities lying wide from the river, amidst agricultural lands. * 1984 x 1488 * (228KB)

07-Eberback-Centre * Eberbach - a former monastery, now a hotel and conference centre. This is the large building seen up front, the road leading aside the monastery. * 1984 x 1488 * (533KB)

08-Wall * Getting at the site and back, the track leads us along the monastery walls. * 1984 x 1488 * (608KB)

09-Buildings * On the other side, you have a different angle to the buildings, and it shows the idyllic location of the monastery. * 1984 x 1488 * (343KB)
