What's New

02-Jan-2010

What will the new year bring

I hope 2010 will bring you good health and less burden and trouble as 2009 has poured out onto you.
If you're not yet unemployed, I wish you this will not change. Otherwise, I sincerely hope for a change.
If you're starting your own business, my hope is it will be a success.

Plans
A few things are already planned and some ideas emerge.
In March, we'll make a short trip to Istanbul, just a weekend. Our holiday destination seems to be Cumbria, also known as the Lake District - yep, we're heading for Brittain again: Walking of course, but not sure yet what route we'll taken: The Cumbria Way, or the Westmoreland route, nor for how long. That may be in Amy of June - depending on the weather forecast , Cumbria is the wettest part if the Britih Isles...Later this year, our bathroom will be refurbished - plans have been drawn and tile purchased already: we found something we both liked, in a sale and got an ever greater discount for we took a whole charge in one.
As for the site, I'll do the blogging program in P{ascal of Fortran, I think. C is too troublesome. Or I could " rewrite" VWCMS, the program that Mark Daniel has written, to use the files that I defined. Next, If VMS 8.4 is out, Diana will be upgraded; WASD will be updated to version 10 - it requires some re-defintion of logicals, and it may be a good moment to do a little redesign of the site.
What remains are the SYSMGR blog, the "Trips, Tracks and Travels" images and tracking data, and the genealogical information (which needs an update in data - still to be done. Mea Culpa). I'm not sure on the VMS wiki I'd like to keep it online, but it's slow (due to Python...), and I doubt it's usefulness (If you think otherwise, let me know. But do not be suprised if you're asked to contribute...).
On the hardware: I already bought a new router, to be installed soon to replace the Linksys router; important feature: VPN connections and VoIP built-in. Not IPV6 - alas. But you cannot have it all for a reasonable price.

Updates
A number of "travel reports" have been added, I think it would be a good idea to indicate new entries are available. As well in other departments of the site.
