Setting up DHCP part 1Setting up DHCP is no big deal - well shouldn't be. It turned out to be somewhat different. First of all: It seems you need a graphical user interface. There are no DCL verbs, nor procedures to at least do a primary setup. Unless you want to edit files like these:
Well, in fact, of course you could do, but without knowing what each abbreviation means. Once used, some are obvious, like nw = network, dn = domain-name, ds = DNS servers, gw = gateway, and ip = DHCP server address. Butr I wasn't so far yet. All these abvbriviations are in another file: and this is just the first 24 lines..... And there are even more files:
Not all are involved in the creation process, all DB*.HSH files are in fact the result, you still need to do the conversion some way. So I used the GUI instead. It took some time to finc this out - bute happily, there IS a commandfile to be run to set all DHCP-related symbols. So specify in login.com:
@SYS$STARTUP:TCPIP$DHCP_SETUPCOMMANDS
and "DHCP" will bring up this window: So far so good. But don't expect too much from context-sensible help: so it's not here! |
