The area is being restored: layers of nutrient-rich slush are dredged from the lakes and canals and temporarely deposited in dyked areas like this. The slush is not poisened so can be used elseweher - to raise lands, as we'd seen before.

31-Nieuwkoopseplassen * Nieuwkoopse Plassen - the area is know for it's reed, that grows on small islands. * 1284 x 591 * (61KB)

33-WordenseVerlaat * After Woerdense Verlaat, we headed back to Woerden following this canal, staring as a road, cahning into a cyclepath and finally a grassy path on the dyke. But this was just the start: Staright on for some time. * 1984 x 1488 * (308KB)
