Changed mapping
In order to update the blog software (really needed….) I did some testing on Daphne – it required a change in mapping. Here I set up a WordPress 3.5.1 environment using PHP 5.3 (by Mark Berryman), and with some help of the WASD mailing list (and Mark Daniel in particular) I got it working.
Now I tested this setup in Diana aside the one that has been used for some years now, taking into the account the way the environment has been defined here – and it works as well – it looks a bit faster as well. So I disabled the old mapping and started using the new one, starting with this blog – and I finished this post using that new setting. Trips, Tracks and Travels done next, so both have been changed now. Still run into the CRTL-issue at times, though. There is little that can be done here.
Now it’s time to update the blogs themselves. WordPress recommends up to 2 levels at a time, so that would mean 5 steps in total (2.6.5 –> 2.8 –> 3.0 –> 3.2 –> 3.4 –> 3.5.1), and intermediate database backups in between. Or try in one step (2.6.5 –> 3.5.1) which may require a full database restore in case things go wrong….
Or something in between (2.6.5 –> 3.0 –> 3.5.1)….
